::::: Mac Mail Configuration :::::

To send and receive mail, please use the following server settings.

IMPORTANT: To avoid un-necessary connections, set your email client to check for new mail every 10 minutes or more (i.e. every 30mn is best)

Mac Mail - Check mail every 15mn

Incoming Mail (Account Information)

  • Decription: (anything you want)
  • Email address: complete email address
  • Full Name: (your full name)
  • Incoming Mail Server: secure.chost.ca
  • User Name: complete email address
  • Password: email password (can be edited in Qmailadmin)

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

  • Edit SMTP Server List...
    • Description: Anyting you want
    • Server Name: secure.chost.ca

Outgoing Mail Server (Advanced Settings)

  • Use custom port: 587
  • Authentication: Password
    • User name: Full email address
    • Password: Email password

Note: For security reasons, you may NOT use port 25 with/without SSL anymore.

Incoming Mail (Advanced)

Under the Advanced Tab:

  • IMAP users:
    • Set Path Prefix: INBOX
    • Port: 993
    • Select "Use SSL"
POP3 users:
  • Port: 995
  • Select "Use SSL"

You may also use standard port for incoming emails (email password and content will be sent in the clear over the Internet):

  • IMAP users:
    • Set Path Prefix: INBOX
    • Port: 143
    • Do not select "Use SSL"
POP3 users:
  • Port: 110
  • Do not select "Use SSL"
